MTV releases bloody new trailer for ‘Scream’ TV series – watch

Trailer features MTV stars who are apparently 'dying' to see the series exec produced by Wes Craven

MTV has released a new trailer for its eagerly-anticipated Scream TV series.

The bloody trailer features familiar faces from MTV shows including Awkward, Teen Wolf and Faking It who are apparently “dying” to see the forthcoming horror series. The actual cast of the MTV’s Scream TV serie then appear at the end of the trailer.

Based on the slasher film franchise created by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, MTV’s Scream TV series is set to premiere in the US on June 30. Craven served as one of its executive producers.

The 10-episode series introduces a new cast of teenage characters played by up-and-coming actors Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Amadeus Serafini, John Karna, Connor Weil, Carlson Young and Dale Heidenreich. Disney star Bella Thorne also appears in the first episode.

MTV’s official synopsis teases: “The series kicks off after a cyber-bullying incident results in a brutal murder, with the shocking violence stirring up memories of a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just inspired a new killer. It centres on a group of new teens — with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart — who become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of a killer who’s out for blood.”

Directed by Craven and written by Williamson, the original Scream film came out in 1996 and is credited with reviving the slasher movie genre. Sequels followed in 1997, 2000 and 2011 with Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette appearing in all four films.
