‘My Dad Wrote A Porno’ to be given HBO comedy special

The TV adaptation will be aired in 2019

The My Dad Wrote A Porno podcast is to be given a HBO comedy special next year, it has been announced.

The hit podcast launched in 2015 and has been downloaded more than 100 million times since. It features Jamie Morton reading from the Belinda Blinked erotic novels, written by his father under the alias Rocky Flintstone, with co-hosts James Cooper and Alice Levine.

Now, HBO have announced will be adapted for a comedy special to air in 2019. In a statement, Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president of HBO Programming said: “My Dad Wrote A Porno shows the extent of just how embarrassing dads can be in the best possible way. James, Jamie and Alice transformed a very awkward situation into an undeniably hilarious experience that we’re excited to share with our audience.”

Cooper told the Edinburgh International Television Festival on Sunday (August 26) that something was in the works Stateside. “We’re doing something for TV in the US,” he said, adding that a pilot had been made previously but hadn’t worked out.

Reacting to the HBO announcement, the podcast’s creators said: “We’re over the moon and honoured that HBO has decided to help bring Rocky Flintstone’s bad dad-rotica to the world – what are they thinking?”

They added: “The response to the live show has been incredible so far, we can’t wait for more people to see it.”

The team have previously toured the US, while their latest UK tour saw them bring the podcast to life at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
