Netflix has released a first look at the fourth season of Narcos – Narcos: Mexico.
The third season of the show returned to the streaming service last year, marking its first episodes without Pablo Escobar.
The fourth season will see the show move from Colombia to Mexico, adding in a whole host of new characters. Michael Pena and Diego Luna will be joining the show – see Luna above and Pena below.
Luna (top) will play Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo – the leader of the Guadalajara cartel, who are the founders of the modern Mexican drug trade. Netflix describes him as “Quiet but bold, inscrutable but sharp-minded, to all appearances he is a benevolent leader, loyal to his friends, associates, and employees…but his ambition comes before all else.” Pena will play undercover DEA agent Kiki Camarena, who moves his wife and son from California to Guadalajara to take on the position.
Narcos: Mexico will explore the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s and promises ‘a tragic chain of events that will affect the drug trade and the war against it for years to come.’
Earlier this year, it was announced that the show will be getting a video-game adaptation. “We’re looking forward to creating a game that matches the fantastic storyline and gritty action of the Netflix series,” said Curve Digital’s Brynley Gibson. “We’re tremendously excited and have some amazing gameplay elements in the works that will please both fans of the show and gamers.”
“Narcos is a fantastic license for us to work with,” added Curve Digital MD, Jason Perkins. “This critically acclaimed show from Gaumont lends itself perfectly to a video game execution and we’re excited and proud to be bringing this to market.”
