Negan from The Walking Dead is now a playable Tekken character

Everyone's favourite barbed-wire-baseball-bat-wielding maniac is coming to your console

The Walking Dead‘s Negan will be a playable character in Tekken 7, the game’s publishers Bandai Namco have announced.

The TV show’s iconic antagonist has been announced among a raft of new characters for Season 2 of Tekken 7’s ‘Season Pass’ scheme.

Negan’s inclusion in the game was announced alongside two other additions, Tekken stalwarts Anna Williams and Lei Wulong. It was the collaboration between AMC’s hit TV show and the video game institution that turned the most heads, however.

Some questioned whether the baseball bat-wielding villain was a good fit for the Tekken franchise, but others praised the bold move. “You have to look at that as inspiration to think outside of the box and run with those crazy ideas cause that’s a CRAAAAAAAZY move. Love it.” said one user.

It’s not the only new meeting of The Walking Dead and video games. Last month a “first-of-a-kind location based augmented reality mobile game,” The Walking Dead: Our World was released on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The game works like Pokémon Go but instead of catching cute Pokémon, you kill zombies. They can appear almost anywhere, while you might also bump into your favoruite characters from the show including Rick, Daryl and more.

In June, 44% of Walking Dead fans said that they will stop watching the show once Andrew Lincoln leaves.

Lincoln’s character Rick Grimes – who Lincoln has played since the show debuted in October 2010 – is expected to depart the show during or at the end of its forthcoming ninth season.

The show’s eighth season received mixed reactions from fans following showrunner Scott Gimple’s decision to kill Carl Grimes – one of the shows leading characters – earlier in the season.

Season 9 of The Walking Dead is expected to air in October.
