Netflix is reportedly planning new episodes of ‘Gilmore Girls’

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are said to be in talks to return as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore

Netflix is reportedly planning to bring back Gilmore Girls for a limited series of four 90-minute episodes.

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, who starred as mother and daughter Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, are said to be in talks to reprise their roles in the new feature-length episodes, which would be steered by the show’s creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Sherman-Palladino served as Gilmore Girls‘ showrunner for its first six seasons, but left before the seventh and final season following a contract dispute.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, many of Gilmore Girls‘ other original cast members are in talks to return alongside Graham and Bledel, though the increasingly in-demand Melissa McCarthy is unlikely to reprise her role.

The new episodes are expected to start shooting in the New Year, though nothing has been confirmed by Netflix or Sherman-Palladino yet. The cast of the show, minus McCarthy, reunited at a TV festival in Austin, Texas over the summer.
