The writer and former president of Marvel Comics passed away earlier this week (November 12) at the age of 95. A lawyer for Lee’s family confirmed his death, disclosing that Lee died after being admitted to the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for a medical emergency.
As well as his pioneering work in comics, Lee was also a pivotal figure in the development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – so much so that he regularly made cameos in films made by the studio and beyond.
Tributes to Lee poured in from across the entertainment world after his passing was confirmed. X-Men star Hugh Jackman wrote: “We’ve lost a creative genius. Stan Lee was a pioneering force in the superhero universe. I’m proud to have been a small part of his legacy and …. to have helped bring one of his characters to life.”
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently strongly hinted that Lee may have filmed a number of cameos prior to his death, including for the hotly-anticipated Avengers 4.
Projects such as Spider-Man: Far From Home, the animated Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and the upcoming X-Men films Dark Phoenix and New Mutants may also feature a Lee cameo.
