New promo released for ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season two – video

HBO's prohibition-era epic returns this autumn

A new trailer for the second series of the Steve Buscemi-starring Boardwalk Empire has been released online.

The video shows Buscemi’s crime lord, Nucky Thompson, walking down the Atlantic City promenade harassed by hangers on.

Stepping out of the Ritz Carlton, the treasurer of Atlantic City shakes hands with citizens as he’s watched over by supporting characters in the hit drama.

Faces in the crowd giving Thompson the evil eye include his brother Eli (Shea Whigham), his partner Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) and his one-time protégé Jimmy (Michael Pitt). Chalky White, played by The Wire‘s Michael K Williams is also set to return.

At the end of the first season Nucky Thompson struck a deal with his rival Arnold Rothstein to avoid an all-out crime war.

Last month, the first series of Boardwalk Empire was nominated for an impressive 18 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama.

Boardwalk Empire returns to to US screens on HBO, on September 25. Sky Atlantic are set to broadcast the show in the UK in October.
