A new trailer for the third series of Sherlock has been revealed – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch.
The 30-second clip, which shows the reaction from obsessive Holmes fans after discovering that the private detective is still alive, aired after the 50th anniversary special of Doctor Who over the weekend (November 23). It was revealed earlier this month that the first episode of the new series will premiere at London’s British Film Institute (BFI) next month (December 15).
A plot synopsis for the episode has also been released on the BFI website. Explaining where the story picks up after the end of series two, it teases: “Just one more miracle, Sherlock. Stop being dead. For Dr John Watson it might well be a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’. Two years after the devastating events of ‘The Reichenbach Fall’, John appears to have got on with his life. New horizons and romance beckon. But, with London under threat of a devastating terrorist attack, Sherlock is about to take John at his word, staging his resurrection with all the theatricality that comes so naturally to him. If Sherlock thinks everything will be just as he left it, though, he’s in for a very big surprise…”
Series three of Sherlock, which features another trio of 90-minute episodes, will then begin on BBC One in January.
