‘Ouija’ – producers of ‘Insidious’ scare up Halloween shocker

Watch the first trailer for the Hasbro board game inspired horror

The producers of Insidious have lined up scare-fest Ouija for Halloween. Co-produced by toy giant Hasbro (Transformers), and inspired by their board game, the supernatural thriller follows a group of friends who must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board

Ouija stars Manchester born Olivia Cooke (TV’s Bates Motel), Daren Kagasoff (TV’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Ana Coto, Bianca A. Santos and Douglas Smith (currently filming Terminator: Genesis).

Director Stiles White co-wrote the screenplay for 2012 horror The Possession and worked in special effects for the Stan Winston Studio on a diverse range of films including Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Sixth Sense and Jurassic Park III.

The ouija board has also been seen in William Friedkin’s classic The Exorcist and the Paranormal Activity franchise. Let’s hope this latest Hasbro effort is more convincing than Battleship. The game-inspire actioner starring Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna, was one of the biggest flops of 2012.

Developed for the screen by Blumhouse Productions (credits include Insidious and The Conjuring spin-off Annabelle) who team with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes (the Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot, The Purge) and Hasbro on Ouija which is due in cinemas over Halloween.
