Pavement’s Stephen Malkmus scores Will Arnett’s new Netflix series ‘Flaked’

'Flaked' soundtrack also features EL VY, Youth Lagoon, Junip and Local Natives

Pavement and ‘The Jicks’ front-man Stephen Malkmus has written the score for forthcoming Netflix comedy drama Flaked, it has been announced this week.

The new Netflix original series will feature Will Arnett as a pathological liar with several demons, who tries to lie and cover his way through his relationships. You can watch a preview trailer of the new show below.

According to Pitchfork, the actor and co-creator of the show tweeted that Malkmus would be writing the score for the series, with featured music to come from EL VY, Youth Lagoon, Junip, Local Natives, S. Carey and Hinds.

Titled Flaked, the series will centre on Arnett’s character Chip, an LA-based lifestyle guru operating in “a tangled web of half-truths and semi-bullshit”. Eight episodes of the series will première exclusively on Netflix in all territories this year.

Arnett has co-created and co-written Flaked with British sitcom writer Mark Chappell, with whom he previously worked on The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz will serve as an executive producer on the series.

“We’re very excited to partner with Netflix – the home of original, original content – and the network I knew would be the ideal home for this passion project,” Arnett said in a statement. It will the actor’s third comedy for the streaming service following the 2013 revival of Arrested Development and animated sitcom BoJack Horseman, which Netflix has renewed for a second season.
