The eighth series of the sitcom starts this weekend on Channel 4
Peep Show co-creator and writer Sam Bain has said that both Danny Dyer and Russell Brand were both considered for the role of Super Hans.
The role eventually went to Matt King – pictured above – but Bain wrote in The Guardian that the part was written with Dyer in mind. He said:
We wrote the part with Danny Dyer in mind and Russell Brand gave a memorable audition but Matt King is and will always be Super Hans.
Bain added that the ‘female geek’ character of Dobby was inspired by Enid in the graphic novel and film Ghost World.
Peep Show starts its eighth series on Sunday (November 25) at 10pm (GMT) on Channel 4. Earlier today one of the shows stars, David Mitchell, who plays Mark, said that a Peep Show movie would only happen as a “last hurrah”.
When asked whether the success of The Inbetweeners Movie could push Peep Show onto the big screen, Mitchell told Shortlist: “We’ve always discussed it but we feel doing a film would mean the end of the TV series. I think if [writers] Sam and Jesse decided to stop, we might discuss a film as a last hurrah. But we’ve always felt we should keep the series going as long as possible.”
The eighth series of Peep Show will comprise six episodes, to be shown weekly until December 30. A ninth series has already been commissioned and is expected to air next year to mark the show’s 10th anniversary.
