Peter Dinklage responds to fan theory that Doritos ad confirms that Tyrion is Targaryen

A song of fire and spice.

Peter Dinklage has spoken out following fan speculation that a Super Bowl Doritos ad starring the actor gives a hint into the actor’s character lineage in Game Of Thrones.

In one of the biggest adverts on Sunday (February 4) Doritos and Mountain Dew brought together Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman to rap battle each other featuring lip-synced versions of Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott tracks.

However, seemingly out of nowhere, fans began to use the advert as evidence for the long-running theory that Tyrion Lannister is actually of the house Targaryen. This is based primarily that the spicy Doritos made the actor spew fire from his mouth during the advert.

Speaking to Huffington Post, Dinklage responded to this  far-reaching fan theory saying: ““I love every single theory the fans of our show have, because they’re so much fun. But you have to understand that it is a Doritos commercial.”

He continued: “[fans] are sort of stretching the limit with that theory when you’re branching out to Frito-Lay commercials. But I say that with all love and respect. Please, I love them. I love the fan theories that they have until the show is finally over”.

Meanwhile, the actor recently said that “it’s time” for Game Of Thrones to end, before it “jumps the shark”.

Speaking to Variety, Dinklage said: “This is the final season, so it’s pretty long – it’s a long one. We’re really taking our time with this one. It’s bittersweet. It’s time to move on with everything, so it’s the sad part of our business”.

“It’s the perfect timing to end it. Sometimes shows stay on a little too long. The jumping the shark thing.”

Earlier this year, HBO confirmed that Game Of Thrones season 8 would not air until 2019.
