Rita Ora confirms departure as ‘X Factor’ judge

Singer served on the judging panel for one series

Rita Ora has confirmed that she will not return to X Factor for its new series.

The singer made her debut as judge on the ITV singing contest last year and won the competition with her contestant Louisa Johnson. She had previously been a judge on BBC’s rival show The Voice.

Following the departure of fellow judges Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, various sources have now reported that Ora is stepping down from the show to concentrate on music and her work for the second Fifty Shades Of Grey movie.

Ora later confirmed the news, writing on Twitter: “I had a ball on @TheXFactor last year and will miss the team.” She also tweeted at Simon Cowell, saying: “[I] can’t wait to work with you again… I’ll be round for dinner soon. Thank you for the experience”.

The singer’s departure means that Cowell will be the only judge from the last series returning in 2016. Presenter Dermot O’Leary has also been confirmed to return.

Meanwhile, Rita Ora was recently forced to deny that she is the “Becky” referred to on Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ album.
