The recent reboot of her comedy series was cancelled following a huge backlash
Roseanne Barr has posted a bizarre clip on her YouTube page explaining her racist tweet towards Valerie Jarrett, a senior advisor to Barack Obama, earlier this year.
In the since-deleted tweet, Barr wrote back in May, she compared Jarrett, who is African American, to an ape.
Shortly after, she apologised for the remarks. “I apologise to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans,” she wrote. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me – my joke was in bad taste.”
But the recent reboot of Roseanne was cancelled after a huge backlash. Now, a new clip entitled “Roseanne explains the Valerie Jarrett tweet” has surfaced where she addresses an off camera interviewer about the tweet, which you can watch below.
In it, she is seen arguing with the interviewer before she declares: “I’m trying to talk about Iran, I’m trying to talk about Valerie Jarrett running the Iran deal.”
“I know, you told me this 300 times,” the interviewer replies before Roseanne rants: “I thought the bitch was white. Goddammit! I thought the bitch was white.”
Roseanne returned after 21 years off-screen in March.
The 10th season comprised of nine episodes and finished airing in May and was expected to be recommissioned for an 11th season before it was cancelled.
