Yesterday (October 23), the police force released an image of an alleged thief and people couldn’t help but notice the suspect looked just like Schwimmer’s character on the ’90s sitcom.
The photo was flooded with comments about the man’s resemblance to the Friends actor, with many quoting phrases from the sitcom.
One wrote: “Shouldn’t he be at work … or is he on a break?” Another posted: “I bet he was shouting ‘PIVOT’ as he picked those beers up.”
It hasn't been his day, his week, his month, and it's unlikely to be his year! Blackpool police have shared this image of an alleged thief (left!) who looks uncannily like David Schwimmer (right). Police said Schwimmer was out of the country at the time of the offence ? pic.twitter.com/fvPgt07te2

“So no one told him life was gonna be this way. His jobs a joke, he’s broke. Love life DOA. It’s like he’s always stuck in second gear. And when it hasn’t been his day, his week, his month or even his year, well, HE WILL STEAL FROM YOOOOUUUUUU,” another added.
“Please approach with caution. He is known to have studied karate and we believe he has mastered the art of Unagi, the state of total awareness,” another user wrote, referencing a Friends episode in which Ross says he is an expert in self-defence. You can see some more reactions below.

The police later confirmed that Schwimmer was actually in America at the time of the incident.
“We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date,” they wrote on their Facebook post. “We’re so sorry it has to be this way.”
Officers, I swear it wasn't me.
As you can see, I was in New York.
To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation.#itwasntme pic.twitter.com/EDFF9dZoYR— schwim (@DavidSchwimmer) October 24, 2018
Schwimmer himself also confirmed he was in New York at the time the crime was committed. Posting on Twitter, he wrote: “Officers, I swear it wasn’t me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation. #itwasntme”.
The tweet included video of the actor in a grocery store, carrying a crate of beer and conspicuously looking at the camera.
