Russell Brand to make radio return with XFM Sunday evening show

The show will air on Sundays at 9pm, beginning this Sunday (March 15)

Russell Brand is to return to radio with a weekly evening show on XFM.

The hour-long show will air on Sunday evenings at 9pm, beginning this Sunday (March 15), the station has announced. It will feature “selected content” from Brand’s twice-weekly podcasts for audioBoom, which launched last month (February).

The podcasts reunite Brand with his regular radio presenting team of comedian Matt Morgan and self-styled “poet laureate” Mr Gee. Each episode is 45 minutes long and features a blend of topical content, general humour and the “world views” of Brand and his co-presenters, with music guests along the way.

XFM’s managing editor Chris Baughen said of Brand’s new Sunday evening show: “Having Russell return to XFM is great news and something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time. For me, radio is where he does his best work and along with many XFM and Russell Brand fans, I can’t wait to hear what he’s got in store!”

Brand began his radio career on XFM in 2002 with a Sunday afternoon show co-presented by Morgan. He later went on to host shows for BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 2. He last appeared on XFM for a special one-off charity broadcast in March 2013, when he was joined by Noel Gallagher and Noel Fielding.
