And fans are wanting an on-screen comeback
Buffy The Vampire Slayer actors Sarah Michelle Gellar and Seth Green reunited earlier this week, with the pair posing for a photo on Instagram.
With news coming earlier this year that a reboot of the hit ’90s show is in the works, a mini-reunion of sorts took place recently – sparking excitement with fans who hope for a revival of the original series.
Gellar posted an image of herself hanging out with Seth Green – who portrayed Daniel ‘Oz’ Osbourne – along with their partners. “Weeknight adulting, couples edition,” she captioned the post.
“So, how about a Buffy reunion to make everyone’s year?” one fan commented. Another said: “I hope you understand what these pictures do to us Buffy fans! When any BTVS cast hang out, us Buffy fans loss our minds…. Every time!”
It looks like this could be the closest we get to a proper Buffy reunion, though – with the upcoming reboot’s writer revealing she has no intentions to replicate [original series creator] Josh Whedon’s series.
The project has been described by its producers as “contemporary, building on the mythology of the original”.
“Like our world, it will be richly diverse, and like the original, some aspects of the series could be seen as metaphors for issues facing us all today,” they said at this year’s Comic-Con.
According to Variety, the reboot will be more diverse and see a black actress take over the title role made famous by Gellar. Josh Whedon is executive producing the new show, while Monica Owusu-Breen will be penning the script.
