Mr Belding is definitely up for it, but there's no word from Screech yet...
Two original Saved By The Bell stars have spoken out about a possible reunion.
The classic sitcom about the students of Bayside High ran for four seasons between 1989 and 1993, before spawning a pair of spin-off series: Saved By The Bell: The College Years and Saved By The Bell: The New Class, which ended in 2000.
In 2009, the original cast reunited for a People magazine photo shoot, with the notable exception of Dustin Diamond aka Screech, who is apparently on poor terms with his former castmates after writing a tell-all book about his time on the show.
Now a full-scale reunion could be taking shape. The Disney Channel has recently announced plans to bring back another teen sitcom, Boy Meets World, with a spin-off show called Girl Meets World. Chatting to TMZ about it, Saved By The Bell‘s heartthrob Mark-Paul Gosselaar joked: “Yeah we’ll see how they do it and maybe we’ll do a reunion as well.”
However, at least one of his former castmates seems to be taking the idea seriously. Dennis Haskins, who played hapless headmaster Mr Belding, has since told TMZ: “I have always supported a reunion of any kind including all of us. Honestly, the fans still love us and our show so much … they deserve it!”
The stars of Saved By The Bell have enjoyed mixed fortunes since the series ended. Mario Lopez is now a successful TV presenter, while Elizabeth Berkley went on to star in Showgirls. However, Diamond’s most notable role came in Screeched – Saved By The Smell, a sex tape he directed and released himself.
