Series finale of ‘Doctor Who’ extended to an hour

'Death in Heaven' will air on BBC1 on November 8

The final episode in the current series of Doctor Who will be extended to 60 minutes, it has been confirmed.

The special extended episode is titled ‘Death in Heaven’ and will run for a full hour on November 8 between 8-9pm. The episode was written by Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay. It follows the November 1 episode, ‘Dark Water’

The full episode synopsis reads: “With Cybermen on the streets of London, old friends unite against old enemies and the Doctor takes to the air in a startling new role.

“Can the mighty UNIT contain Missy? As the Doctor faces his greatest challenge, sacrifices must be made before the day is won.”

Peter Capaldi’s debut as the Time Lord was watched by almost seven million viewers. He became the 12th Doctor after taking over from Matt Smith.
