The cult series ran for two series between 1999 and 2001
Simon Pegg has confirmed whether Spaced will ever return to our screens.
The cult programme ran for two series between 1999 and 2001 and followed friends Tim (Pegg), Daisy (Jessica Hynes), Brian (Mark Heap), Mike (Nick Frost), and Twist (Katy Carmichael).
Fans recently sent questions to NME to be put to Pegg during a new interview. Many people enquired about the possible return of Spaced, to which the actor and filmmaker responded: “That question will never go away. The more they ask, the less likely it is.”
He added that “it couldn’t possibly ever exist again” because it was about “a group of twenty-somethings at the turn of the century.” When it was suggested they could get around that by doing a reunion series, he replied: “Why? There’s no point.
“I dunno what I have to say that’s relatable about life now. It’s not gonna happen, kids – unless you want a sitcom about some clueless actor who can’t tie his own shoelaces.” Watch the full interview at the top of the page.
Meanwhile, Pegg and his creative partner Nick Frost are working on a new horror-comedy TV show called Truth Seekers. It will follow a three-person paranormal investigation team, with each instalment clocking in at half an hour. Each episode will focus on a different paranormal incident.
The star is also set to appear in the next instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, alongside Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin and more. Mission: Impossible – Fallout is released in cinemas on July 25.
