Chris Hardwick has been accused of sexual assault by ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra
Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick has responded to allegations of sexual assault made against him.
The 46-year-old comedian, actor, and presenter is known for hosting the Walking Dead talk show, as well as similar shows dissecting Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and Preacher.
Actor Chloe Dykstra – who Hardwick dated from 2011 to 2014 – posted an essay titled Rose-Colored Glasses: A Confession on Thursday (June 14) in which she discussed a relationship with an unnamed man almost 20 years older than her with “controlling behaviour”.
In the post, she claimed he alienated her from her friends, she was not allowed to have close male friends and was not allowed to drink alcohol because he was sober. She said she was “terrified to piss him off” and followed his commands “including let him sexually assault me. Regularly.”
Hardwick has now responded to Dykstra’s allegations in a statement to People. “I was heartbroken to read Chloe’s post,” he said. “Our three-year relationship was not perfect – we were ultimately not a good match and argued – even shouted at each other – but I loved her and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her.”
He continued to say he ended the relationship after he found out Dykstra had cheated on him, and he rejected her when she wanted to get back together weeks later. “I’m devastated to read that she is now accusing me of conduct that did not occur,” he said. “I was blindsided by her post and always want the best for her. As a husband, son, and future father, I do not condone any kind of mistreatment of women.”
