First pictures emerge of Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Daniels in ‘The Crown’

The images follow swiftly on from newly-released pictures of Olivia Colman in the upcoming third season, in which she'll play The Queen

The first images of Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Daniels in their respective new roles in The Crown have been released.

The hit Netflix period drama is expected to return in 2019 for its third season, which will initially be set in 1963.

After a first look at Olivia Colman as The Queen (she’s taken over the role from Claire Foy, who played the monarch in the first two seasons of the show) in the forthcoming new season was released earlier this week, Netflix have now continued to ramp up anticipation for the episodes by releasing more images from the new series.

Carter and Daniels’ roles as Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones respectively have been previewed in two new images – see those below.

The likes of Tobias Menzies (who plays Prince Philip) and Jason Watkins (Prime Minister Harold Wilson) will also star in the new season of the award-winning series.

Back in December, former The Crown actor Matt Smith said that he “felt sorry” for Meghan Markle following the news of her and Prince Harry’s royal engagement, adding that “life as she knows it is gone”.

“I feel sorry for her,” Smith, who played Prince Philip on the show, said. “It’s such a huge transition in her life, and it’s such a huge thing to take on. Life as she knows it is gone. But hey, she’s marrying the prince of Britain – how exciting for her.”
