The Inbetweeners cast have shared pictures from the set of the upcoming two-hour anniversary special.
The beloved comedy about four teenage boys working their way through adolescence into adulthood spanned three series and spawned two films since it was first televised on May 1, 2008. During the two years it was aired, it was E4’s highest rating series ever.
James Buckley, who played fantasist Jay Cartwright in the series, posted a snap of his co-stars to Instagram. Joe Thomas, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison played close friends Simon, Will and Neil.
Buckley also posted a shot of Simon’s famous yellow Fiat Cinquecento Hawaii. The caption simply read “#inbetweeners”.
Buckley recently admitted he thinks that the show would be deemed too offensive in 2018.
Inbetweeners fans were first teased with the idea of a reunion show earlier this year, when the stars reunited for a meal to mark the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed sitcom.
Blake Harrison – who played Neil in the show – immediately denied rumours, saying “I just don’t think it would work, I think we’re too old now”.
“I think the reason it was so funny was you had these idiotic, ignorant, lads that you let them get away with saying things that would be quite offensive but as they get older you can’t excuse it, I think.”
The Inbetweeners anniversary special will see Jay, Neil, Simon and Will reminisce about the hit comedy and include behind-the-scenes clips, surprise guests, celebrity fans and unseen footage.
Tom Beck, Channel 4’s head of live events and commissioning editor for entertainment, said: “Will, Jay, Simon and Neil spent years failing to sneak into the best parties, so I’m very pleased to throw one that they’re definitely invited to.
“I just hope Will brings his Mum.”
The Inbetweeners special is set to air on Channel 4. An exact date has not yet been confirmed.
