‘The IT Crowd’ to return for one-off final episode

The 40-minute finale begins filming in three weeks' time, creator Graham Linehan reveals

The IT Crowd is to return for one last episode.

Created by Graham Linehan, one half of the duo behind Father Ted, the office-set sitcom debuted on Channel 4 in 2006 and ran for four series. The most recent episode was broadcast in 2010, but Linehan revealed last year (2012) that he was planning to revive the show for a special one-off finale.

Now the farewell episode is definitely going ahead, BleedingCool reports. During a digital media conference in Germany on Monday (May 6), Linehan revealed that The IT Crowd‘s finale will begin filming in around three weeks’ time.

The last episode will have a slightly longer 40-minute running time and Linehan apparently wrote the script over a year ago, but filming was held up by the cast members’ busy schedules. Original stars Chris O’Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson and Matt Berry are all confirmed to return.

Since the last series of the The IT Crowd, O’Dowd has appeared in Hollywood comedies such as Bridesmaids and This Is 40 and Ayoade wrote and directed hit British indie flick Submarine. Meanwhile, Parkinson has appeared in Sherlock and Berry recently guested on an episode of Portlandia.
