HBO has yet to decide the fate of the dark drama series from 'Lost' co-creator Damon Lindelof
Fans of The Leftovers assembled outside HBO’s New York headquarters yesterday to petition for a third season of the acclaimed series co-created by Lost‘s Damon Lindelof.
The fans congregated outside HBO’s offices in costume as The Guilty Remnant, the mysterious cult at the heart of the dark drama starring Liv Tyler and Justin Theroux.
The fans mimicked the behaviour of the show’s fictional cult, Variety reports, by quietly smoking cigarettes and peacefully holding up sheets of paper showing the word ‘renew’.

Season two of The Leftovers concluded on HBO on Sunday (December 6) but the premium cable network has yet to announce whether it has ordered a third season. Though the show’s second season earned stronger reviews from TV critics, its audience declined significantly.
Damon Lindelof recently confirmed that he is keen to make another season, saying of season two’s finale: “We executed exactly the plan that we wanted to execute. There is a feeling of completeness and circularity, but also as storytellers and writers, we want there to be more Leftovers.”
