The Queen declines to sit on Iron Throne during visit to ‘Game Of Thrones’ set

Actors including Kit Harington receive royal visit

The Queen paid a visit to the set of Game of Thrones in Belfast today (June 24).

Actors and staff from the hit TV show were visited by royalty with Prince Phillip also part of the trip to the Titanic Quarter in the Northern Ireland capital. The Queen even came face to face with the Iron Throne, which she declined to take a seat on.

While on the visit, The Queen was introduced to actors including They included Lena Heady (Queen Cersei Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Conleth Hill (Lord Varys), Rose Leslie (Ygritte), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark, pictured) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark).

Though she opted not to sit on the Iron Throne, The Queen was presented with a miniature version by D.B. Weiss, an executive producer on the hit show.

Game of Thrones recently became the most popular show in HBO history, passing The Sopranos among others. The fourth series of the fantasy drama pulled in an average audience of 18.4m viewers, more than any other show in the history of the cable network.
