Former The Walking Dead actor Jon Bernthal has joined the cast of Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix series.
Bernthal will play Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher in Season Two of the acclaimed superhero drama, which will launch on Netflix in 2016. Bernthal, also known for his film roles in The Wolf Of Wall Street and Fury, posted a picture of himself brushing up on the show’s source material on Twitter last night (June 9) following the casting announcement.

Bernthal joins Charlie Cox, Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll and Eddie Henson, who are all reprising their roles from Season One of Marvel’sDaredevil, which launched on Netflix in April of this year.
Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher in a popular antihero who made his Marvel Comics debut in 1974 and has previously been played on screen by actors including Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson. Marvel describes the character as “a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results”.
“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, said in a casting announcement on Marvel’s official website. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”
