The Walking Dead’s Melissa McBride hints at major trauma for her character Carol

Carol actress plays down talk of romance with Daryl

The Walking Dead actress Melissa McBride has hinted that her character Carol Peletier may be in trouble in the show’s new series.

The recent first half of the season saw a relationship start to develop between Carol and outlaw Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus.

The show returns to Fox UK on October 24 at 9pm for the start of season seven. And McBride hinted that Carol may not have time for romance with Daryl.

McBride told ComicBook: “Carol’s definitely got some healing to do in her mind, and where she wants to be on this Earth. Or if she wants to stick around, or what.”

While it could be seen as McBride discussing whether Carol wants to “stick around” in the community led by Rick Grimes, some fans have speculated that her words could mean Carol’s fate is set to follow that in the comic books the TV series is based on.

In the TV series, Carol has been a largely independent character, in The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s comic books, Carol is a neurotic woman who eventually decides to kill herself by submitting to a zombie.

The start of the new season will see season six’s controversial finale resolved, when new villain Negan seemingly beat one of Grimes’ community to death, with viewers left not knowing who was being savagely beaten.
