‘Twin Peaks’ reboot to feature 18 episodes and original music by Angelo Badalamenti

David Lynch recently announced that he was returning to direct the show

More details have been unveiled of the upcoming new season of Twin Peaks.

Last October, US cable network Showtime announced that it was bringing back David Lynch’s cult drama series for nine new episodes. According to the show’s actors, however, the series will now feature 18 episodes. Cast members Sherilyn Fenn and Sheryl Lee revealed the news during a Twin Peaks panel at Crypticon in Seattle on Saturday (May 23).

As well as the increase in episodes, it was also confirmed that Angelo Badalamenti, the original composer of the show’s theme music and score, will return with brand new music especially written for the programme. As reported by a Twin Peaks fansite, Washington State’s Twede’s Cafe will also be restored as the original Double R Diner set from the show.

Having announced in April, that he had pulled out of negotiations regarding the reboot of the show, Lynch later confirmed that he is back on board to direct the series.

Twin Peaks is expected to air in 2016. The show originally ran from April 1990 to June 1991, when it was cancelled during its second season. Alongside lead actor Kyle MacLachlan, the cast of the original Twin Peaks series included Michael Ontkean, Lara Flynn Boyle, Sheryl Lee, Mädchen Amick and Sherilyn Fenn.
