Two more stars leave ‘Misfits’

The E4 show's cast will look different when it returns next year

Two of the stars of Misfits have confirmed their departures from the show.

E4’s hit teen superhero drama finished its third series this weekend, but now Iwan Rheon, who played Simon Bellamy has followed co-star Antonia Thomas out of the door.

Rheon said of his departure: “Thanks for all the comments and support. I’m so grateful for the opportunity that Misfits gave me and all the fun I had doing it. But I have left now and look forward to doing exciting new things. The show must go on!”

Thomas confirmed her departure yesterday (December 19) after the character Alisha was killed off in Sunday’s series finale. She subsequently wrote on Twitter: “I won’t be coming back for series four but I can’t wait to see it! I’ve had an amazing time in Misfits – it has been epic!”

The third series of Misfits saw original star Robert Sheehan depart the, but it has remained successful since introducing This Is England star Joseph Gilgun to the cast. A fourth series has already been commissioned.

The show concerns a group of young people on community service who are given superpowers in a freak electrical storm. A US remake is currently in development.
