Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace's performance does not go down well
Viewers have slammed the latest UK Lip Sync Battle featuring Eastenders stars Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie.
When it first launched in the US in 2015, viewers tuned in to see A-Listers including Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Anne Hathaway, Channing Tatum and Justin Bieber.
Many viewers said they felt cheated by Richie and Wallace’s performance which included a take on ‘A Fairytale Of New York’.
Posting on Twitter, one user wrote: “Lip Sync Battle US gets Beyonce, Lip Sync Battle UK gets Kat and Alfie from Eastenders. #notquitethesame.”
Another said: “The UK’s version of Lip Sync battle is definitely up there with one of worst things I’ve ever watched.”
The pair then split up to perform a solo track each, with Richie giving a rendition of ‘Low’ by Flo Rida.
The Christmas edition of the show marks the return of the regular series on Channel 5, which starts its second run next month.
Returning hosts Professor Green and Mel B will be back at the helm, while those lined up to perform for Season Two include Danny Dyer, Katie Price, Craig Revel Horwood and Jimmy Carr.
Hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen, the original US version of Lip Sync Battle launched on Spike in April 2015 and has hosted performances from Justin Bieber, Mike Tyson, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Will Arnett, Jimmy Fallon and more.
According to legal papers obtained, Walker maintains he owns the copyright to the original Roc-A-Fella design and alleges the superstar failed to obtain his permission before featuring it in her 2013 promo, which also stars Jay Z.
Dwayne Walker previously claimed he was hired to create the logo in 1995 and tried to sue Jay Z, his former business partner Damon Dash, and executives at Universal Music Group over the issue in 2012, demanding $7 million (£5.6 million) in unpaid royalties.
