‘The Walking Dead’’s Carl Grimes wants to start a music career

Take a listen to Chandler Riggs' electronica tracks. (Season 8, episode 1 spoilers ahead.)

Chandler Riggs from ‘The Walking Dead‘ looks set to launch a music career, ahead of his character’s controversial exit from the show.

Fans were outraged when Riggs’ character, Carl Grimes was bitten in the ribs by a walker during season 8’s midseason finale. It’s been confirmed that he’s set to die at the start of the season’s second half.

They’ve even started a petition to get showrunner Scott M. Gimple fired due to Riggs’ unfair treatment, as well as the fact that Carl Grimes is still a leading and pivotal character in the comic book series on which the show is based.

The shocking plot development follows rumours from last year that Riggs’ contract with the show was set to end, as well as a recent ratings plummet to a six-year low.

However, he looks to be embracing a change of career, having released music on Soundcloud under the moniker, Eclipse.

He’s released two electronic tracks – ‘Lunar’ and ‘Hold On’.

Riggs only found out about his character’s death while rehearsing episode 6 of the season – only two episodes before shooting the midseason finale. He had just bought a house near Georgia, where the series is filmed.

In an interview published since the episode, actor Chandler Riggs has corroborated that leaving the show “wasn’t my decision”, though he added that “it was all story-related” and said: “It made sense story-wise for it to happen for Rick and Michonne and all the other characters.”

The comic book’s creator Robert Kirkman has defended the show’s decision, but did admit he “had a little bit of trepidation”.

‘The Walking Dead’ season 8 returns to FOX on February 26.
