Mike Colter stars as the title character in a 13-episode series launching in late September
A new teaser for Marvel’s latest Netflix series, Luke Cage, has been shared on YouTube today (August 27).
Cage, played by Mike Colter (Million Dollar Baby), was first introduced to viewers in another Netflix show, Jessica Jones, in November 2015. The NYC-based character is a former convict with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin who fights crime.
The 13-episode Luke Cage series, whose first full trailer was revealed earlier this month, will debut on Netflix in full on September 30.
Marvel’s other Netflix shows continue to succeed, with Jessica Jones renewed for a second season in January. Netflix has signed off on another 13 episodes of the series which stars Krysten Ritter as a private detective with superhuman abilities.
As part of its deal with Marvel, Netflix is developing four original live-action series based on the comic book giant’s characters. Jessica Jones, one of very few TV comic book adaptations to feature a female lead, was the second series announced. The first, Daredevil, premiered in April last year and features British actor Charlie Cox as the titular blind superhero. Its second series debuted on Netflix earlier this year in March.
A Netflix adaptation of Marvel’s Iron Fist will follow in 2017, with Game of Thrones‘ Finn Jones cast as the title character, a martial arts expert. All four characters – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist – will then team up for a joint mini-series.
