The first trailer for the third season of Top Boy has arrived, ahead of the show’s arrival on Netflix.
The acclaimed drama originally aired for two seasons between 2011 – 2013, before Drake teamed up with Netflix to revive it in 2017.
And after Drake premiered the trailer at his O2 Arena show last night, it’s finally arrived online.
Although remaining vague, the trailer sees Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson [Kano] reprising their roles as Dushane and Sully once more.
Drake acts as an executive producer on the show, alongside the original creative team – Charles Steel, Alasdair Flind, Ronan Bennett, and Yann Demange.
In a statement, Bennett said that inspiration for the show came after witnessing “a 10-year-old boy dealing drugs outside my local supermarket”, explaining that “it made me question what was going on in my own community”.
Ashley Waters added: ““Top Boy is a raw, real representation of street culture. It explores how these characters came to make the choices they make, and gives the audience a behind-the-scenes look as to what is happening on our streets today. It needs to be talked about and the show doesn’t shy away from giving us the platform to tell our story.
“We can’t change things if we do not acknowledge it and understand it first. Netflix is the perfect platform for this show, there aren’t many networks who would be brave enough to keep it this real.”
