Coleman is currently shooting the historical drama series, which will follow Queen Victoria’s succession to the throne and her relationship and subsequent marriage to Prince Albert, played by Tom Hughes (The Game, Silk).

Last week she shared a picture of herself in costume on the film’s set.

The first episode will clock in at 90 minutes, while the other seven will run to 60 minutes. ITV has yet to announce when the series will begin.

Last year Coleman confirmed that she had filmed her last scenes for Doctor Who.

“It’s been in the works for a very long time. Steven [Moffat, executive producer] and I sat down a long time ago – a year, year and a half ago – and tried to work out the best place to do it and the best place in which to tell a really good story,” the actress explained at the time.

Her final appearance came in a December episode titled ‘Hell Bent’, the 12th and final instalment of the show’s ninth series since it was revived by the BBC in 2005.
