Watch Helen Mirren urge ‘pillocks’ not to drink-drive in new Budweiser advert

The clip will air during the NFL Super Bowl match this weekend

Helen Mirren stars in a new Budweiser advertising campaign against drink-driving.

The beer company’s advert, which urges viewers not to drive while under the influence of alcohol, will air during the NFL Super Bowl match this weekend.

“The collective ‘we’ is dumb-founded that people still drive drunk,” the actress says in the short clip.

She continues: “So I’ll sum it up like this: If you drive drunk, you, simply put, are a short-sighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting, human form of pollution, a Darwin Award-deserving, selfish coward. If your brain was donated to science, science would return it. So stop it… Don’t be a pillock.”

Budweiser are encouraging viewers to use the #GiveADamn hashtag on Twitter, saying they will donate $1 (69p) to road safety programmes for every tweet posted.

Last year, the Los Angeles Times reported that alcohol-related crashes were up 57% in the city on what is known as Super Bowl Sunday, the day of the american football match.
