Watch Lena Dunham and ‘Girls’ cast unite in support for Stanford rape victim

Brock Turner was sentenced to six months in jail after assaulting an unconscious woman

The cast of Girls have appeared in a PSA video following a high-publicised sexual assault case involving a Stanford University athlete who raped an unconscious woman.

Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet have united in a clip posted to Dunham’s Twitter account, which sees them speak in support of the “brave survivor in the Stanford case who has given so much to change the conversation”.

Brock Turner, 20, was sentenced to six months in jail and probation. Critics have since spoken out against the apparent light sentence handed to the individual.

In Dunham’s video, co-star Kirke says: “We may star on Girls together, but that doesn’t mean we always agree. But there is one issue on which we are in total agreement.”

After reciting statistics about sexual assault, Williams says: “Don’t avoid the hard conversation. You already have the power to create a safer, healthier environment for women to come forward.” Watch below.

Meanwhile, Lena Dunham recently paid tribute to former Girls co-star Nick Lashaway, who died in a car crash last month.
