Watch the trailer for ‘Narcos’ season 2

The second season of the hit Netflix show will be released on September 2

Netflix has released the full Narcos season 2 trailer, after announcing that the second season of the hit show will be released on September 2 last month (June). You can watch it below.

The new trailer shows Colombian drug baron Pablo Escobar, the character at the centre of the true story Narcos is based on, escaping from prison, before declaring “the hunt is on”.

All 10 episodes of Narcos season 2 will be unveiled simultaneously on the streaming service on September 2.

The drama focuses on the escapades of Escobar, played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura, who won a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal.

The release date was originally announced in a 30-second teaser trailer on YouTube, which saw Moura walk to camera as Escobar’s date of birth and the date he was shot dead by Colombian police flash on screen. It ended with the September 2 date appearing on screen.

Narcos is directed by Jose Padilha, who previously directed Moura in the successful Brazilian films Elite Squad and its sequel, before helming the 2014 reboot of RoboCop starring Michael Keaton, Samuel L Jackson and Gary Oldman.

Narcos was created by Law & Order: Criminal Intent showrunner Chris Brancato with writing Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, who previously wrote Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time and Nicolas Cage film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

The fact the Narcos season 2 trailer shows the date of Escobar’s death has led to speculation that the second season will be the last and portray the drug baron’s shooting.
