Black Eyed Peas star also announces he is joining spin-off series 'The Voice Kids'
Will.i.am has announced he is returning to The Voice on ITV.
The Black Eyed Peas star, who appeared on every BBC1 series of the singing contest, is the first panel member confirmed for the show’s ITV incarnation. He will also serve as a coach on ITV’s forthcoming spin-off series The Voice Kids.
“I’m delighted to be continuing The Voice UK on ITV and being a voice of direction and guidance for the usual suspects, and I’m thrilled to add The Voice Kids to the mix,” he said in a statement. “I know The Voice switched to ITV, but I’m not going to Brexit The Voice UK. I’m happy to make ITV my home now. I love the UK.”
Although will.i.am’s fellow coaches have yet to be confirmed, ITV has announced that Emma Willis will serve as host on both the new series of The Voice and spin-off The Voice Kids.
“Hosting The Voice Kids will be like being at my house on a Saturday night; lots of kids singing, with me trying to keep some kind of order,” Willis said. “Thankfully, the musical genius that is will.i.am is there to bring some expertise to the table. It’s going to be pretty awesome.”
The Voice originally ran on BBC1 for five series beginning in 2012. Coaches on the BBC1 incarnation included Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson, Kylie Minogue, Paloma Faith and Rita Ora.
