"We’re gonna attempt to go gay for just one month,"
Controversial YouTube star Logan Paul has apologised after claiming that he wants to “go gay for a month”.
Only a year after the controversial video that he filmed in Japan’s “suicide forest”, Paul has courted fresh controversy by announcing his plans to “go gay” on a recent podcast.
Speaking on the Impaulsive series, he said: “We’re vegan now, and we’re sober. January is sober, vegan January. February is fatal February.”
After co-host Mike Majlak explained that ‘fatal February’ would involve meat and copious amounts of alcohol, Paul then turned his attentions to the following month.
“Then March – it’s male-only March. We’re gonna attempt to go gay for just one month,” he said.
Maljak then responded: “For one month. And then swing… go back.”
The comments provoked immediate condemnation on social media from users who explained that being LGBTQ is not a choice.
“Logan Paul joking about being gay “for one month” while countless LGBT+ around the world are killed & committing suicide for their sexuality, is disgusting. He continues to be an awful representation of the YouTube community & shows he truly has learned NOTHING over the last year,” wrote Daniel Preda.
Another simply wrote: “Another new year, same Logan Paul.”
But Paul has now attempted to offer his own apology after his actions were called out by LGBTQ organisation GLAAD.
“very poor choice of words… my fault. let’s get together and talk about it on my podcast next week?” Paul wrote.
The controversy comes only 12 months after the YouTube star faced condemnation for filming a man’s dead body in Japan’s Aokighara Forest, a notorious suicide hotspot.
He later announced plans to take a break from YouTube – before returning shortly afterwards.
