Zachary Quinto: ‘I’m not going back to ‘Heroes’’

Tim Kring's cult sci-fi show is returning for a 13-episode mini series called ‘Heroes Reborn’

Zachary Quinto has confirmed that will not be returning for this summer’s Heroes Reborn.

The Star Trek actor played the villainous Sylar in the original series created by Tim Kring, which ran for four seasons on US network NBC between 2006 and 2010. NBC announced last year (2014) that it is reviving the cult sci-fi drama for a 13-episode standalone mini series called Heroes Reborn, set to premiere this summer.

Asked about reprising his role by Buzzfeed, Quinto replied: “I’m not going back. Tim reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation. It was such a meaningful experience for me. I just felt like I didn’t want to go back to it. Tim was very, very understanding.”

At present, the only original Heroes cast member to confirm his return is Jack Coleman, who played Noah Bennet aka “HRG”. Meanwhile, Chuck star Zachary Levi has been cast in an unknown role.

Explaining his decision not to join them, Quinto added: “I’m thrilled that they’re doing it. I’m thrilled that Jack Coleman is going back to it. It’s a great thing to be a part of. I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself.”
