Twenty One Pilots spoof ‘A Star Is Born’ poster as they go up against soundtrack for album chart top spot

'Trench' and the film's OST were both released on Friday

Twenty One Pilots have shared a spoof of the A Star Is Born movie poster, as their new album ‘Trench’ goes head-to-head with the film’s soundtrack in the album chart.

The duo released their fifth album on Friday (October 5). In a four-star reviewNME concluded: “‘Trench’ is the sound of a band ratcheting up the ambition without ever being pulled down by an undertow of pretentiousness. It’s more low-key than ‘Blurryface’, but ultimately more rewarding.”

On the same date, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s soundtrack album was unveiled. It features 19 original songs, with guest appearances from the likes of Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell, Mark Ronson, and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow. The single ‘Shallow’ has landed Gaga her 20th top 40 hit in the UK charts.

Now, as both albums race for the top spot on the Billboard Chart, Twenty One Pilots have posted their own version of A Star Is Born‘s poster. With the title A Trench Is Born, the mock-up features Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun recreating Gaga and Cooper’s pose. “make the right decision today at your local record store, online, or wherever cds are sold,” the band captioned the post. “our new album TRENCH is out now.”

“Bradley Cooper stans attacking Twenty One Pilots is something I never thought I’d see in my time here,” one Twitter user said of the reaction to the post.

As it stands, ‘A Star Is Born Soundtrack’ holds the Number 1 position on the US iTunes album chart, with ‘Trench’ at Number 2.

Meanwhile, Bradley Cooper recently spoke to NME about the prospect of releasing a solo album. “Never! That will never happen,” the actor said. He also discussed filming some of A Star Is Born at Glastonbury 2017.

Ahead of the film’s release, Lady Gaga said that working with Bradley Cooper had “changed” her. “Watching Bradley work was phenomenal and then having him believe in me – it gave me more ammunition to believe in myself and I just feel so blessed to have had that experience,” she added.
