Hollywood actor Vince Vaughn has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, police in the US have today confirmed.
The True Detective star, 48, was stopped outside of Los Angeles, between Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, at a police sobriety checkpoint at around 01:00 PST (09:00 BST) on Sunday.
The actor, who is best known for roles in films including Dodgeball, Wedding Crashers and Hacksaw Ridge, was previously arrested in 2001 after a fight in a bar which injured Big Lebowski actor Steve Buscemi after he intervened.
Sergeant Tim Zins of the Manhattan Beach Police Department confirmed a passenger traveling with Vaughn was also charged with intoxication yesterday evening.
Vaughn was initially arrested for assault following the incident, but the charge was later dropped. Both Vaughn and his passenger were taken to Manhattan Beach jail before later being released.
Vaughn, who lives in Manhattan Beach, was released and given a citation to appear in court. Zins said he couldn’t comment further on the details of the case until it had been reviewed by prosecutors. Vaughn’s spokesperson Alan Nierob offered no comment on the incident when approached by Billboard.
Last year, it was revealed that Vaughn was nearly cast as Joey in Friends. The Hollywood star auditioned for the part in 1994, but was rejected in favour of Matt LeBlanc.
