Cartoon also has the voices of Zooey Deschanel, Anna Kendrick and Gwen Stefani
Justin Timberlake has given a first taste of his voice skills as an angry troll in the initial trailer for the Trolls cartoon.
The trailer for the film, out November 4, sees Timberlake play grey troll Branch say grumpily that “Right outside my door lurks a nightmare named Poppy.” Poppy is revealed as a colourful and bouncy troll leader, voiced by Twilight actress Anna Kendrick.
The trailer also gives brief excerpts of other trolls in the film, who are voiced by James Corden, Zooey Deschanel and Gwen Stefani. The film follows the plight of the trolls, who are menaced by troll-eating monsters called Bergens.
Other voices in the film, made by DreamWorks, come from Jeffrey Tambor, Big Bang Theory actor Kunal Nayyar, comedian Ron Funches and Icona Pop.
The trailer is soundtracked by Timberlake’s recent single ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’, which reached No 2, kept from the top by Drake’s ‘One Dance’, which is still at No 1 for an 11th week.
Timberlake has written several other new songs for the Trolls soundtrack and is the music supervisor on the film. He also recently duetted with Anna Kendrick on a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s 1986 hit ‘True Colours’ before a preview screening of Trolls at Cannes Film Festival.
Trolls is directed by Mike Mitchell, whose previous animated films include Shrek Forever After.
