The trailer for the second season of Narcos has been released, with the Netflix Original show set to return on September 2.
The new clip shows Colombian drug baron Pablo Escobar, the character at the centre of the true story Narcos is based on, escaping from prison, before detective Steve Murphy is heard saying “Well, here we go again”.
The drama focuses on the escapades of Escobar, played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura, who won a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal.
The release date was originally announced in a 30-second teaser trailer on YouTube, which saw Moura walk to camera as Escobar’s date of birth and the date he was shot dead by Colombian police flash on screen.
Narcos is directed by Jose Padilha and was created by Law & Order: Criminal Intent showrunner Chris Brancato with writing by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, who previously wrote Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time and Nicolas Cage film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
With the first Narcos season 2 trailer showing the date of Escobar’s death and this latest clip ending with the question ‘Who Killed Pablo Escobar?’, it has led to speculation that the second season will be the last and will portray the drug baron’s shooting.
