Woody Allen to set his next film in Rome

Movie will be a 'love letter' to city

Woody Allen is set to shoot his next film project in Rome.

The legendary writer/director will decamp to the Italian city to use it as his next backdrop, after previously shooting films in New York, London, Barcelona and Paris.

The project will be produced by Italian production outfit Medusa Film.

Allen told Variety magazine: “I love these sophisticated and civilised metropolises. Each time it’s been like writing a love letter to these places and projecting my feelings for them on the screen. I hope to be able to do the same with Rome.”

Details of the project are under wraps, but it will be eligible for Italy’s generous 25 per cent tax credits for international productions capped at $7 million.

Allen‘s next screen outing, Midnight In Paris, will debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
