New ‘Zombieland 2′ poster does ’10 year challenge’ on original

Sony Pictures have taken things very literally

The team behind the new Zombieland movie have used the #10yearchallenge to promote the sequel.

Sony Pictures posted a side-by-side comparison of Zombieland with the follow-up Zombieland: Double Tap, with the cast recreating the poses from the original movie poster for the 2019 version.

The original cast – Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin – return to the new movie that’s set 10 years on from the first.

A short synopsis reads: “Columbus, Tallahasse, Wichita, and Little Rock move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family.”

Zombieland writer Paul Wernick said in 2017 that the cast have “all become superstars now”, and that he hopes the sequel will live up to the success of the last one.

“We made Zombieland with $20 million, so it’s trying to fit that financial model into the sequel model so it makes sense for the studio and being able to pay the actors what they now get paid and deserve to paid.”

Emma Stone

In the years since the first film, Stone has won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in La La Land, two BAFTAs (La La Land) and – among other accolades – has received two Academy Awards nods (Birdman, The Favourite), winning the Best Actress Oscar for La La Land.

Eisenberg has won awards for The Social Network (2010) and most recently, Harrelson won a SAG award for his work in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Zombieland: Double Tap is released in UK cinemas on October 11 2019.
