For the third year running, Secret 7" has commissioned a host of artists from the world-reknowned likes of Sir Paul Smith, Sir Anthony Gormley and Jake and Dinos Chapman. An array of emerging talents having also designed sleeves for seven special edition Record Store Day vinyls.
The premise of the idea means that the records are purchased based solely on their unique artwork. The identity of each designer remains a mystery, thus meaning that you could end up with an original Smith piece for the same price as a piece from a completely new artist.
This year's 7"s are: Lorde - 'Team'; Black Sabbath - 'Age of Reason'; Elbow - 'Grounds For Divorce'; Jake Bugg - 'Strange Creatures'; Massive Attack - 'Karma Coma'; Roxy Music - 'Virginia Plain' and T.Rex - 'Get It On'.
Each track will be limited to a limited run of 100 vinyls, each featuring a specially-commissioned sleeve design - that's 700 individual pieces in total. Here's a sneak preview of some of the artwork that will be on offer this April 19 on Record Store Day...
