Drenge played three new tracks at a sold-out NME Awards show, with Austin, Texas at London's Scala last night (February 20).
The new songs were the thrashy, chugging 'Running Wild', previously played at last year's Reading Festival, the grinding 'The Snake' and melancholy, bluesy number 'Standing In The Cold'.
Their set, which drew largely upon songs from last year's self-titled debut album including 'Bloodsports', 'Backwaters' and 'I Wanna Break You In Half', saw intense moshing throughout the night.
One shirtless stage-diver circled Eoin and Rory Loveless before jumping back into the crowd. At the climax of penultimate song, singer Eoin Loveless approached his brother’s drumkit and doused him with a can of beer.
The venue, in north London was absolutely packed. Support on the evening came from Brighton's The Wytches.
Drenge are set to play at the NME Awards 2014 with Austin, Texas ceremony alongside Metronomy, Belle & Sebastian and Godlike Geniuses Blondie (February 26), and have been nominated in the Best New Band supported by Mossimo category.
They finished their set with chaotic run-throughs of 'Standing In The Cold', 'Let's Pretend' and 'Fuckabout'.
