Despite starting the season at 5000/1 underdogs, football club Leicester City F.C. are just one win away from winning the Premier League title. To celebrate their miraculous season, Kasabian have lined up a huge show at the side’s King Power Stadium – here’s what they have to say about the club and the side’s improbable, amazing season.
On May 28, Kasabian will play a massive gig at Leicester City's King Power Stadium to 30,000 punters as a celebration of the team's fairytale season.
Upon announcement of the gig, Serge said "There's such an energy in the city at the minute," adding "In a way it feels like we're almost centre of the universe. Everyone is watching." The band also said they'd be living out a lifelong dream but playing the show. "We've always wanted to play at the King Power and after this season... we had to do it." Could they be joined by a PL title?
The club have used Kasabian's music several times in the past and earlier this season, manager Claudio Ranieri used their song 'Fire' to inspire his players onto a 4-2 victory before the opening game. 'We’ve been doing this a few years. That’s up there with the ultimate. I’ll give all the awards back, everything." Serge said back in August.
The band will be the stadium's first ever gig since its opening in 2002, but the lads have been following Leicester way before that. Serge is a keen footballer and even said in a 2007 interview that before picking up the guitar he wanted to play "centre forward for Leicester City".
The lads say they've been to plenty of Leicester games this season as a result of their tour finishing in time with the start of the season. Serge added, "We can't actually believe this, we've been so lucky to see all this and go to a lot of games."
Lead singer Tom said that even Noel Gallagher (Manchester City fan) is backing the team to pull it off and that this is "the true underdog" story.
